CONSTIPATION
Constipation is defined as a slow or difficult bowel habit. Mild constipation is common and can be managed by close attention to diet and lifestyle.

DO drink 1500 - 2000 ml of fluid a day, preferably water.

DO eat 20-30 gm of fibre every day.

DO eat 5 servings of fruit and vegetables every day.

DO walk briskly for at least 20 minutes every day.

Severe constipation is a more difficult management problem. This difficult bowel habit is due either to slow transit of faecal matter through the bowel or blockage of the bowel outlet, ( so called obstructed defecation ).
